Microsoft (also known as Microsoft Game Studios or Xbox Game Studios as pertaining to their gaming division) is an American technology company best known for the development of the 'Windows' computer operating system as well as production of the Xbox line of gaming consoles. In 2002, Microsoft purchased Rare, the developer of the Banjo-Kazooie series, absorbing them into the Xbox Game Studios company. Since 2002, Microsoft has controlled the Banjo-Kazooie I.P. and several Banjo-Kazooie games have been published by Microsoft for Xbox consoles.
